When I was a kid, I loved show-and-tell. So I always have a few sessions with my students. It helps them get over shyness and usually, show-and-tell is pretty tame. Kids bring in pet turtles, model airplanes, pictures of fish they catch, stuff like that. And I never, ever place any boundaries or limitations on them. If they want to lug it in to school and talk about it, they’re welcome.

Our VP visit went well at work today.  We had to do some changes, nothing major just busy stuff.

After work I broke down and got me a few different books on Harry Potter…..I can’t wait to get into them.  If I ever get time that is.  Hell, I’m 3 weeks behind on my Time mag, 2 mags behind on my Ms. & 1 mag behind on my Bitch.  I’m piling them up in my laptop bag for my trip to Indiana.  Especially since Torn’s flight takes off about 4hrs before mine, so hopefully that I can get them read……I’ll probably end up napping some.

I did catch up on some work here for the store, surprisingly.  When I finally get a breather from it I feel kind of lost.  What I need to do is refocus on things that I need to for our own business.  Thinking of organizing the receipts for quickbooks entry, so I can do a little at a time.

The only good thing with being so busy is that it makes it easier to deal with the fact that Torn isn’t here.  =(  But when I head to bed, I miss having him next to me.  This may not sound very nice, but once he comes to bed I can settle down and crash.  If he doesn’t I end up staying up longer then I should just because he isn’t there.  It is if I’m waiting for him to come to bed.  He told me that he misses warming his feet up on me and that is it………..grin  The bum.  At least tomorrow night I’ll be cuddling with my prickly husband…..grin

Ok, that settles it, I need a clone and I need one bad.  All my plans that I had for myself got totally shot down.  I’ve been home since 18:30 and it is currently 23:16 and other then speaking to my mother-in-law and Torn for about 30 minutes I’ve been working on rude stuff the whole time.  And it just dawned on something that I forgot to do.  So as soon as I get this done I will attack that.

I do have to keep up earlier then I want to, but still later then today.  So once I get that one thing done for rude I’m going to try and get my private messages done.

I will say that I had a great conversation with my mother-in-law, she has just been over joyed with Torn’s visit.  It has been going well.  They had been having the wine that we sent them for the holidays and when I called she started to pull my leg on asking who I was…………LOL  I’m like his wife, the one he has been married to for 10yrs in May…..it was too funny. She was just over the hill happy.  It was really cool
Torn got the printer going.  It was one of those things that they had hooked everything up correctly but it didn’t want to work until you unplugged and plugged it back in.

She was very surprised at the amount of pictures that he took when they went out to the falls and few other site seeing things.  He took about 450 of them in a short time.  For us, that is normal for us, for them it is stunning.  She really loved how well the pictures came out.  I took her that she has to poised for some pictures so I can have some. The only one we have is one they gave us years ago.

Torn has had a rough relationship over the years with his folks.  She was surprised at how he has changed. All the things I’m use to him doing, simple things like helping on a rough trail, holding a door open she says she hasn’t seen that in years….sounds like before he left for the Navy…her polite son that she knew is back.  For me, he has always been that way, but what I noticed is that his overall coping skills have come a long way and so has his patience.  He really has grown though the years……even though he can still drive me nuts………grin
She says that this visit is what they needed.  She doesn’t know what really happened in their relationship with him but hoping that with all of them changing that it will keep getting better.  She thanked me a lot for telling him that he needed to get up there sooner then June.  My schedule just will just never let it happen.

I need to get back to work before I head off to bed.

Well, well………what a day off. Didn’t get to bed as early as I wanted………normal Then got up early this morning to get Torn off to the airport. It is weird not having Torn around, but at least I’m working the days that he is gone and it is not a holiday.

After I dropped him, I stopped at the store on my way into town and picked a few things, mainly litter & cat food….the spoiled brats. Then it was on to home. I had a friend waiting on me to take care of some business. It took longer then expected, but then I had to head to the bank to take care of other parts of the business.

By now I’ve totally lost track of time and needed to get some sort of food in me……so a quick stop at bk just for 1 burger to be tossed into me. And then on to staples, finally got me the new quickbooks program that I needed. Looks nice, what I’ve seen. I haven’t been able to dig in to as much as I would like……but I will get my moment.

When I got home, it was to attack more of the same work since the info I had for the bank was incorrect…..icks I finally got all my reports and data entries done for rude. I still need my do all my receipts…the pile keeps getting bigger.

I need to do some solo shoots while Torn is gone, but guess what I forgot to do? Ask Torn to out the lights together. They aren’t that hard but if you don’t know them, it is hard to organize them. So I have put one set together and I WILL do some shoots tomorrow. I have to……I’m broken later this week and I’m out of town next week.

I’m just so totally overwhelmed……..it wouldn’t be bad at all if I had more time. I’m enjoying what I’m doing, I just want more time to work on it.

Go thing I don’t comment on boards very much. Some moron on a board I occasionally go to in his defense of Imus turned around and said that the girls on that team were “nappy-headed hos”!!! Just because they aren’t the normal standard of “pretty”…..I would love just to bitch slap his stupid idiotic ass for that! What pisses me off is everyone just lets him run that shit from his mouth and even encourage the moron no matter what the subject, even though overall the board is a very reasonable board. It is disappointing. I just try to avoid his shitty posts.

I hate the racism in that comment that Imus made and I hope that it really brings up the double standard that is in hip-hop. I really love the beat and the rhythms of hip-hop, but I HATE the sexism in it. That is why Imus thought he could get away with it…..he was a heavy weight and this crap is accepted is in the mainstream hip-hop. I don’t believe Imus is actually racist and meant it to be, he is a shock jock and thought he was being funny.

As a feminist, I knowledge the racism in that comment he made, but I really see the sexism in it. That is how hip-hop culture treat their women and it really pisses me off. I do not like seeing my sisters of any color being treated that way.

One of my favorite hip-hop bands growing up was Salt-N-Pepper, they spoke of sexual and individual empowerment. They didn’t put up with being treated like “hos”…..it was on their terms, strong terms. That is the hip-hop that I’ve always enjoyed.

I worked at my day job today. Actually took it easy for being a busy day. But I will make it up for it tomorrow that is for sure.

I was speaking to my boss today about who my replacement should be or what kind of person it should be. She feels the ones that may be up for the promotion don’t have the “force” take my position. She says that I obviously know what I’m doing and that I inspire confidence for our employees to come up to me when a decision needs to be made and know that I will make a decision and do something, whether I make the wrong or correct decision I will make one because I want to take care of it.

It felt good to have a boss that I can actually talk to and not have to worry about watching my back. We have the same thoughts on how things should be done. We also talked about me trying to get our other managers up to speed to take over some of my duties and about me possibly going to hourly and cutting back in a few months. I’ve been at that office for over 2 years and it is my baby and also my stress reliever from the work here. I would like to go hourly to cut back and get the time I need to work here but also be able to help whoever takes my position go through the transition. Of course, before I do all that I need to make sure that I take all my vacation time and personal days at my present pay rate, which is considerable for that small office. I currently have all but 2 days scheduled out. I just may add those to my last set of vacation days and step down afterwards, so that would be about the 2nd week of June. I just need to balance everything until then……I hope…..but time is flying faster then I realize.

After work I had to return my ear piece. It worked but wouldn’t stay in my ear so I had to exchange it. It is the same as Torn’s, which I was trying to avoid, but it fits better. Then I picked us up a delicious spaghetti dinner. It was great……….I even had 2 glasses of wine with it…..

Then I had to clean up the mess that Torn threw on the bed…… He had gathered his clothes for his trip to his folks and wanted me to pack it up for him. I have him spoiled. I wonder how well he will have them packed for the trip back……..lol

I did a some work done on the store. Pretty happy with how much I got done in the little time I had. There is so much more that I need to add. Then there are so many folks that I would like to contact for more items……but 1st I have to add what I have.

Damn, I wrote a longer entry then I thought I could……time to do a few more things and then time to hit the sack.

At 1st I started the day working on store issues. I”m one who likes to slowly get into her day.  Plan it out, figure out my priorities….once you got a game plan it makes it so much easier.  So starting on things wasn’t the wisest of moves, but luckily for me Torn remembered that I mentioned about actually going for a bike ride or roller staking (he forgot that part).

So we went on a bike ride.  We haven’t done that in awhile due to his foot.  It felt great to get out in the sun shine and be active like that.  But next time, I want to go roller skating.  I am chopping at the bit for that…….grin

Even though, I really, really didn’t want to do any damn errands, we did.  It was small one…..it still takes time and makes you feel like you got nothing done all day.  We broke down and got our blue tooth pieces for our new phones, I got me a wall charger for my Ipod and we picked up some packing tape…..of course, we forgot the can of air and folders that we needed……..icks.

What was extremely nice is that shortly after we got home our stuff from omaha steaks were delivered!  Damn, we love that stuff and have been going through major withdraws. With the trip down to Miami, I had put off ordering it.  Well, we had steaks for a late lunch and bread chicken stuffed with broccoli and cheese for supper!  Then for dessert our apple caramel tarts with beyers fried ice cream….I love that ice cream…….mmmmm….if you haven’t tried it, you must!

I did get some corrections made to the store, what I really wanted to do was to start adding more product.  I may do a few pieces tonight, but those edits took a lot longer then I expected.  =(

Let me throw out a question for anyone who has microsoft office 2007, we are looking to upgrade but need to know if it can be uploaded to 2 different pcs.  I would extremely hate to have to buy 2 of them for just Torn and I…..it seems to be a waste.  I tried looking at their site and I can’t find any of that info.  So if anyone knows anything, I would appreciate it.  =)  Even though I got the feeling we will have to purchase 2 of them.

Alright, lets see if I can get anything else done.

Alright, I wanted to write this up and have it posted before midnight, but it was not to be.  I really like having an entry a day so you know that I’m not forgetting everyone.

It was okay today at work, the VP got stuck in another state and won’t be at my office until tomorrow.  But that is okay I’m off so it isn’t my worry.

I was able to get out of work a little early and get my nails and toes done.  I had them done in silver with black tips. Funny, I’ve never had them done silver and black, always gold and black for Purdue.  So I why not.

I tried to sit at the desk and do some work, but after dealing with fed ex…….I wasn’t having it.  So I put on my ear piece, called my sister and did some work around the house while chatting.  It felt good to get some work done that did not involve sitting.  Plus the huge benefit is the house is in order and it makes it easier for me to concentrate when things are done and in their place.

So now I’m going to do a few things before heading to bed.  My day off tomorrow is a full work day online.

Very intense day at work today.  It is time for our regular overhaul at work, which is intense in of itself….but what makes it even harder is that we have our VP coming in Thursday.  Which sucks in that normally we have until Friday to get everything done, but now we only have until Thursday morning…..icks..  But we got a ton done and they got a bunch done Monday, so we are doing pretty good, but still have a bunch of things to attack tomorrow.

Brain just hit the wall……I’m heading to bed.

Boy, we were running around everywhere today.  Trying to get everything done, so on my day off Friday we don’t have to go anywhere.

1st thing we had to do was head to the bank.  I had some questions I needed answer for international business and then take care of some our personal business.  Then we had some packages to send off.  I had somethings that I wanted to donate to Bitch Magazine, plus I had somethings I wanted to send up to my family.  Then we stopped by the nearest sprint store to ask a few questions about new phones, since we were due for them.  Then on to staples for a few office supplies…..fun, fun.  Then to wally world for a return and a few groceries…..

Got home and had a lunch (if you can call it that) and got down to business………..of course, nothing I had originally planned on.  But I did balance out our checkbook, called sprint to resign up just so we can get a promotional deal and then back to the sprint store…..and this time did not leave empty handed!  These are the phones we got :  Katana  Torn got the black and I got the goregous blue (of course).  Unfortunately I haven’t time to really play with it.  =(  So I’ll try to do some of that later.

I just got done putting away a ton of laundry and about to really hit the work that I’ve needed to do for while. =)  Lets see how far I get.
